Description

A rooted offset from my privately held Anthurium NSE Red Crystallinum S1 [No. 1 “Rainbow”], selected for its exceptional emergent colour, shifting iridescence, and documented provenance.

The story begins with BoyGardening’s NSE Red Crystallinum, widely known among collectors as Rainbow Crystallinum. That original plant was self pollinated to produce the S1 generation.

From that original selfed release, I imported two S1 seedlings from the USA into my private UK collection. Mother specimen [No. 1] developed into the plant I now call “Rainbow”, having retained the characteristic colour play that made the original line so distinctive.

The plant offered here is a direct vegetative division from that mother.

The Rainbow Phenotype

The defining feature of Mother Plant No. 1 is its remarkable emergent foliage.New leaves emerge a striking, saturated red, but the colour is not static. Across the surface of the emergent leaf sits a distinctive green to blue sheen, becoming more or less visible as the angle of the leaf, light, or viewer changes.

The result is a shifting colour presentation rather than a single flat emergent tone. Red dominates the leaf, while flashes of green and blue reveal themselves as light travels across its surface.

It is this optical colour play that earned the original NSE Red Crystallinum its “Rainbow” association, and that character has carried through particularly strongly in this selected S1 specimen.
